NETDOG IS BACK ONLINE!

I use a product on my PC called Agnitum Outpost Security Suite Pro — a comprehensive security software which protects against an entire range of modern threats (internal & external). Although it is not a well known Internet security product, it is a best-of-breed personal firewall for protection against all forms of malware (though somewhat short on the “user friendly” scale). It’s beening humming along fine for months but recently made a unilateral decision to block me out of my own network (completely unknown to me of course). Well … after 2 and a half days of tinkering with Windows 2000 component services, replacing my NIC, at least 100 “restarts,” and losing what little remaining hair I had, I decided to check my firewall settings. Glory hallelujah … I have been to the mountain! It’s fixed now.

We are now at “Condition Green.” Tranquility has returned to the land. Life is good. There is peace in the valley!

Technical Difficulties

My “Main” computer is giving me fits … can’t connect to the cable modem, so we may not have any posts today. Stay tuned. Technology is great when it works — and nothing less than a curse when it doesn’t.

Please be patient … Netdog’s house has been invaded by painters. The office had to be disassembled and computer parts are everywhere. I’ve got ONE computer up and running but all the “good stuff” is on the OTHER one (wherever it is at the moment). Posts will continue as soon as possible.
