Christianity versus Atheism

Blaise Pascal — The religious thinker who atheists love to hate. He is one of the central figures in the arguments refuting the claims of Christianity. A French mathematician, physicist, and religious philosopher, Pascal was a brilliant intellect, and to refute this man’s religious beliefs in any way offers the unbeliever a sense of philosophical comfort. Here is a perfect example … The Atheist’s Wager. Scroll to the very end to see the atheist’s alternative — a bankruptcy in intellectual thought. Even some Christians reject Pascal’s corollary based on its seeming trivial approach to believing in the Divine. Whether Pascal was a “born again” Christian is unclear, but his life as a philosopher certainly offers both the Christian and Atheist something to think about.

Internet Infidels — From the other side of the aisle — Internet Infidels, Inc., a nonprofit educational organization dedicated to defending and promoting a naturalistic worldview on the Internet … In addition, we want to uphold the dignity of humanity, and to encourage the avid pursuit of philosophy and the scientific enterprise. We also stand as a bulwark against the forces of superstition, especially the radical religious right, whose proponents would have us fear knowledge rather than embrace it.
Interpretation: Everyone is welcome in this marketplace of ideas … except Christians. Don’t bother reading too much from these guys … not the sharpest knives in the drawer. After all, who gave them the authority to be society’s “thought police?”

Answers for Atheists & Agnostics — A former atheist speaks (or rather, writes) — Is God real or just an outdated concept? Do we need God or can we get along fine without Him? These were some of my questions about God before I came to faith. This site provides answers to questions about God, evidence for God’s existence, His care and love for mankind, and His provision for joyful living both now and into eternity through His Son, Jesus Christ.

Apologetics

Biblical Defense of Bible Reliability — Providing a Reasoned Defense for Your Faith
The Bible is the accurate infallible Word of God and is therefore reliable and trustworthy. The Bible, the Word of God is a book penned by forty different authors written over a period of fifteen hundred years consisting of sixty-six different books. There are four hundred years separating the thirty-nine books of the Old Testament from the twenty-seven books of the New Testament. Yet from Genesis to Revelation, they tell one seamless unfolding story and together present the consistent theme of God’s holiness, love and grace, while providing answers to the most important questions we can ask of ourselves. This event gives men and women the sure hope of eternal life a hope that not only gives us joy as we look to the future but also provides us with powerful reasons to live today. WAIT … THERE’S MORE!

Twenty-One Reasons to Believe in Jesus
1. Christ Is Someone To Know And Trust

Christ is more than a system, tradition, or belief. He is a Person who knows our needs, feels our pain, and sympathizes with our weakness. In exchange for our trust, He offers to forgive our sins, to intercede for us, and to bring us to His Father. He cried for us, died for us, and rose from the dead to show that He was all He claimed to be. Conquering death, He showed us that He can save us from our sins, live His life through us on earth, and then bring us safely to heaven. He offers Himself as a gift to anyone who will trust Him ( John 20:24-31).
